Festive Style: Gathered Angrakha Dress

Prasanthi Kadiyala

Hope everyone is doing good! It’s the season to play dress up and like you all know I’m always on the lookout for simple, beautiful and classic outfits, that are not just limited to festive wear. You all might also know my love for handlooms, so here’s another gorgeous find from ‘The Loom’ – the Gathered Angrakha Dress 🙂

I’ve already talked about ‘The Loom’ in one of my previous posts (click here to read) and they really do have an exclusive handcrafted collection, which you should definitely check out if you love handlooms! Talking about my outfit now, this is a beautiful hand block printed Mulmul dress with a dupatta. Mulmul is the softest and breathable cotton you can wear, which is one of my most favorite fabrics considering its nature. It’s not stiff or hard to maintain like regular cotton or linen fabrics. It also has the fall which makes it an ideal fabric for gathered and flowy dresses. It’s so lightweight that makes it an easy option for festive or occasion wear as well, so you can easily run around without any fuss.

The Dupatta that comes with the dress also makes it a versatile piece in your wardrobe, as it can easily help to switch your look. You can wear this with a dupatta, some heavy jewelry and Juttis for a traditional look or you can wear the dress by itself (as a long dress) with matching heels/sneakers & contemporary jewelry for a more casual/western look 🙂 No matter how you choose to style it, it’s simply gorgeous. I got this one for my Birthday, and we are in between shifting houses so I couldn’t take any pictures then. Last weekend, after a really long time we went to the temple and I took this one out styling it in a traditional way. This is one of my favorite pieces and I thought it’s unfair to not share & talk about this 🙂 I think it’s the right time too coz many of you might be hunting for festive wear & this one could be a good edition to your wardrobe!

And I’ve also seen the same collection at ‘The Secret Label’ (also have a blog post here), which is good because you can compare the prices and see which one offers you a good deal 🙂 And the exciting news is both the sites ship worldwide! Linking all the details below so don’t forget to scroll down! Will see you soon with a new post, until then stay safe 🙂
