Hello again!

I hope everyone is safe out there and are following all the preventive measures for COVID-19. Please stay at home to protect yourself and everyone else. This is the 3rd week since we (Ravi and I) started staying at home. Though our weekdays seem pretty much the same, working from home does save us a lot of time, early in the mornings and evenings which we have been putting to good use – watching a movie together, taking time for each other, doing the household chores together and catching up with family & friends. Recently I was talking to my besties from college, and they brought up this idea of sharing about Makeup and my current makeup routine. I feel a lot more confident to talk about Makeup recently, so I’m super happy and excited to share with you all my simple and easy everyday makeup routine.

I don’t use all these products every single day, there are days where I just skip a few and there are days where I just don’t wear any makeup at all. I really like for my makeup routine to be quick and effective and look pretty natural. This whole thing probably takes me 15 minutes to do. So without further ado…

Primer is used to prep your skin for makeup and based on the type of the Primer, like a silicone primer can also help you give a blur effect by softening your pores. I’m currently using the Primer from Fenty Beauty. It’s both a moisturizing and hydrating primer.

We use concealer to even out the skin tone of your face – for spot correcting or for covering the dark circles. If hyperpigmentation is one of your main concerns then you must use a color corrector first and then use a concealer. I use the Radiant Creamy Concealer from NARS in the shade Medium 2 Ginger. It’s very little light from my normal skin tone but works well for my shade. It’s very creamy and easily blendable. It gives you perfect coverage to cover any spots and even your skin tone, without having to use a lot of product. I sometimes skip my foundation and just be done after using a concealer.

I prefer my makeup to be natural and I like my natural skin to show through. And hence I prefer lightweight foundations with medium to buildable coverage. I also have an oily T-zone, so I prefer a demi-matte finish. I’ve been using the Jane Iredale Beyond Matte Foundation recently.I’m in the shade M10 and I use one pump of the product & apply it with a wet beauty blender and that is all I need to finish my base 🙂 The foundation lasts on me for pretty much the entire work time and by nature of my skin type, I do see some oil buildup on my T-zones which I blot away with a tissue in between.

During the winters, I feel that loose powder especially gives me the patchy or dry look to my face, so I completely skip this step or I just go over with a very little amount under my eyes (which completely depends on my mood). I use the Translucent Setting Powder from Laura Mercier 🙂

Earlier I used to completely skip this step, but recently this has been a game-changer for my looks. After I realized the importance of doing my brows, I never leave the house without my brows done. A nicely groomed and shaped brows, take your look to a completely different level. I use the Goof Proof Brow Pencil from Benefit Cosmetics in the shade 4 – warm deep brown. The custom tip helps to easily fill your brows and shape them to give you natural-looking brows. It’s waterproof and stays in place for almost 12 hours (until I wash off my face in the night) 🙂

Eye-pencil is a must-have for me to finish my makeup. I use the Lakme Absolute Kajal which I usually get from India every year. I go with the eye-liner again depending on my mood. If I feel like I need to make my eyes look defined or if I don’t feel lazy I use the eyeliner. I love the Tattoo Liner from KatVon D. It comes with a fine tip and glides over very easily to create a perfect winged liner. It’s very intense and one swipe is all you need 🙂

This also an optional product for me. I use it on the days where I want to open my eyes and add some drama! I use the Doucce Maxlash Volumizing Mascara. I got this in one of my subscription boxes. I have naturally curly lashes and one coat of this works well for me 🙂

I like the idea of giving my cheeks a natural blush effect. So I prefer using a shimmery blush or a cream blush. Sometimes I also use my lipstick as a blush 🙂 I love the NARS Orgasm blush in the shade Super Orgasm, for a cream blush I love the ones from Milk Beauty and I use my cream matte or a glossy finish lipstick. I take a little bit of the lipstick on my fingertips and pinch through my cheeks and blend them to give a natural blush effect 🙂

I have a warm skin tone, so I personally love highlighters with a warm gold tone as they blend well and give me a natural highlight effect. I love the liquid highlighter – Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid highlighter from Tarte. I switch between these two products and use a little on my high-points of the cheek, a little on my cupids bow and go over with the remaining on my T-zone (chin, nose, and forehead) so it doesn’t look too shiny.

I don’t usually feel the need to contour my face. I personally feel that I have a defined jawline and a structured face. I have a broader forehead, so sometimes I contour around my temples to create a shadow effect on my forehead. I use the Hoola Matte Bronzer from Benefit Cosmetics.

On a workday, I usually prefer a lighter, soft or nude lip color. I go with a brighter shade only if I feel like I need to uplift my mood for the day. I love non-drying matte formulas when it comes to my lipsticks. The Matte Revolution Lipstick from Charolette Tilbury in the shade Pillow Talk Medium has been my goto recently 🙂 I’ve also been using the Mineralist Hydrating Lipstick from Bare Minerals in the shade Inspiration a lot when it comes to bright colors (the one I’m wearing in this picture).

You don’t necessarily need to use the same products as I do to achieve the same look. It took me close to 2 years to figure out what kind of products go with my skin type and preference, along with learning the techniques. If you are a beginner, then I would not recommend straightway invest in luxury/expensive Makeup especially with foundations. I’d always recommend starting small, start with samples or mini-sized products and once you know that a product is working, then go ahead and make the purchase. This would save you a lot of money 🙂 I use the term invest because all these products are definitely an investment and if you get the right one they can definitely stay with you for a year or so!

I hope you found this informative. Let me know if you would love to see more posts on makeup and also if you have any questions. I can do a separate blog post on how to start investing in luxury beauty if you are interested! I’m no expert but I took my sweet little time to learn everything and will try to answer as much as I can. See you soon with a new post! Till then Be Safe and Stay Healthy.

Lots of Love,
