Living in Colorado is an absolute bliss. This place is beautiful all round the year in it’s very own way. Being a tropical girl and specially having spent most of my life by the coast, it was definitely challenging to get used to the Colorado Winters. The weather can get very unpredictable with sudden hailstorms, unexpected snow storms and gusty winds. It’s been 3 and half years now that I can say I’m getting used to the winters and I’m starting to enjoy them as much as Summers!
Colorado is undoubtedly one of the best places for Winter activities, and Ice Castles are a must-see winter phenomenon built with hundreds of thousands of icicles that brings fairy tales to life. They really do! It’s such a happy fun place to visit with family and friends, where you can become a little kid again! Last year was our first visit and we wanted to go this year as well, and we had our friends to accompany us.
Checkout if your place has Ice Castles and they do, please do visit. You can spend anywhere from an hour to two just walking around, taking pictures. Sliding and walking through the tunnels, playing with the kids. I also have some quick details on what to wear, because it is extremely cold out there and you definitely need a lot of winter wear to be able to enjoy & have fun! Layer as much as possible with thermals, thick woolen clothes, jackets to keep you warmer and are waterproof. Don’t forget your gloves, scarfs, caps and winter boots. If you have snow suits then they should also be perfect.
Carry lots of water, as you can easily dehydrate & get tired after you come out. Carry a good moisturizer and lip balm, coz again you are heading to spend a good time in the castle and you will need them as soon as you come out. Though we managed to capture some good pictures, I feel they cannot do enough justice to how the castles look in person 🙂 Don’t forget to scroll through for more pictures. Will see you all soon with a new post 🙂
